Liquid Nose Reshaping with Dr Scott: Who Is A Suitable Candidate

Liquid nose reshaping, commonly referred to as a non surgical rhinoplasty treatment (or non surgical nose job), can temporarily make minor to moderate adjustments to the appearance of the nose.

It can be a favourable option for those who want to avoid the permanent and extensive nature of a surgical rhinoplasty, while still making some specific changes to the nose’s appearance.

While the treatment can make a variety of changes, it is more limited than surgery in what it can achieve, since it works by adding volume to strategic areas. This can greatly influence who makes a suitable candidate for the procedure – which we will explain in more detail in this blog!

If you would like to find out if you are a suitable candidate for liquid nose reshaping, you will ultimately need to have a consultation so that the features of your nose can be examined. If you’re based in Brisbane, a consultation with Cosmetic
Physician Dr Scott can help you decide if it’s the right option for you.

What can a non surgical rhinoplasty, or liquid nose reshaping, change about the appearance of the nose?

A non surgical rhinoplasty, or liquid nose reshaping treatment, works by adding volume to specific areas of the nose to adjust its shape. Since it does not involve reshaping the bone or cartilage, it is best suited for certain types of concerns rather than structural changes.

The most common reasons someone might consider this treatment include concealing a small bump, such as a dorsal hump, lifting the nasal tip, adjusting the shape of the nasal bridge, and adjusting minor asymmetrical features.

Even though adding volume to the nose may sound like it could make the nose appear larger, strategically adding volume using careful techniques can be performed in a way that does not have this effect.

Suitable candidate factor 1: Your general health

While a non surgical rhinoplasty does not involve surgery, it is still important to consider your overall health.

There are some medical or skin conditions that may interfere with someone’s suitability for the treatment, so your health history will need to be discussed before you can proceed.

Some conditions that can be contraindications to the treatment include certain allergies or sensitivities (such as the likelihood of having a reaction to the material used), and some types of skin conditions (such as active acne or skin infections, or inflammatory conditions around the nose).

Some of these conditions can directly interfere with the ability to perform the treatment itself, while others can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment by potentially hindering the body’s healing ability afterwards.

Previous nasal treatments or surgeries will also need to be considered – if you have had any previous procedures or treatments, make sure that you mention these during your consultation as it can sometimes influence your suitability.

Suitable candidate factor 2: The structure of your nose and your personal goals

Since the procedure works by adding volume rather than removing or repositioning bone and cartilage, it is best suited to those whose concerns can be adjusted by adding to the existing shape rather than reducing it.

Therefore, to be suitable, a candidate will essentially need to have a nasal structure that allows for effective adjustments by using the volume-adding treatment.
Then, your aesthetic goals will need to be considered and compared to the existing structure of your nose. If your goals can be achieved with the liquid nose reshaping method, then you may be a suitable candidate.

Suitable candidate factor 3: The thickness and overall condition of the skin on your nose

The thickness and quality of the skin are other important factors when determining your suitability, as they can influence how well the treatment naturally blends in with the appearance of the nose.

For example, those with thinner skin may notice that changes are more visible, while those with thicker skin may require more volume to see a noticeable difference. However, very thin skin can sometimes make the placement of added volume more obvious, particularly in certain areas of the nose.

Skin elasticity is also important. Firmer, more elastic skin tends to hold the treatment in place more effectively, whereas looser skin may not provide the same level of definition.

While these factors do not necessarily exclude someone from being a candidate, it can influence how results can appear, which may mean that it may not be the most suitable option.

Suitable candidate factor 4: Having realistic expectations for the results

Apart from all of the important physical factors that need to be taken into account, there’s an important mental aspect that comes into play – having realistic expectations.

It’s important that a suitable candidate has realistic expectations about what the treatment can and cannot achieve. Specifically, the treatment is temporary and cannot make structural changes like reducing the size of the nose, making the nostrils smaller, making changes that are characterised by the nose’s bone structure and other changes that can only be made with a surgical approach.

It’s also important to understand that, in order to maintain results in the longer term, maintenance treatment sessions will be necessary. The frequency of your maintenance treatments will depend on personal factors, which you will be able to discuss with Dr Scott during your consultation.
