Non Surgical Rhinoplasty Brisbane: Aftercare Tips

Despite being a less extensive treatment than surgery, the effectiveness and results of a non surgical rhinoplasty can still rely on how well you care for your nose after treatment.

While there is no downtime in the way that there would be after a surgical procedure, some good aftercare steps can help reduce unwanted side effects and support the best possible results in the longer-term.

Read on for our non surgical rhinoplasty aftercare tips! For more personalised advice, based on personal factors and how your treatment is performed, we recommend discussing aftercare during your consultation with Cosmetic Physician Dr Scott in Brisbane. Every patient is unique, so receiving personalised advice will be an important part of the treatment process.

In the first 24 hours: What to do straight after your treatment

In the first few hours after the non surgical nose reshaping (or non surgical nose job), the nose may feel slightly tender, and some minor swelling or redness is common. As a normal response to the treatment, these side effects are usually mild and should settle quite quickly.

If there is any mild discomfort, it can usually be managed with pain medication, but you should contact our team if you have any concerns or trouble with managing discomfort.

To help the area adjust, it is best to avoid touching or applying pressure to the nose for at least 24 hours. Avoiding unnecessary movement or pressure that could shift the treatment before it settles is one of the most important tips that you should follow.

Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, where the structure of the nose is permanently altered, non surgical rhinoplasty relies on the precise placement of added volume, which can be affected by external pressure in the early stages.

To avoid added pressure on the nose, it’s recommended to avoid wearing glasses within the first 24 hours, if possible. You can also try to sleep on your back, as sleeping on your stomach or side can accidentally put pressure on the nose.

You should also protect your skin after the treatment to avoid irritation. For the first 24 hours, it is best to avoid applying makeup or skincare products directly on the nose, using heavy creams or oils that may clog the skin and exposing the skin to excessive heat, such as hot showers or steam rooms.

If you’ll need to follow any additional steps based on your personal needs, our team will let you know during your consultation, making sure that you will be able to sufficiently care for your nose.

For up to 48 hours: Continuing the aftercare process

After the first 24 hours, you should continue to avoid adding pressure to the nose. You should also still keep the skin clean, but you may be able to apply light makeup after 48 hours.

During this time, some swelling can be present, which you can help reduce by sleeping on an extra pillow to keep your head elevated. You can also avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours, stay hydrated and avoid alcohol to help reduce swelling.

Bending over for long periods, such as during yoga or heavy lifting, can also increase pressure on the face, which may affect how the treatment settles. Light activities such as walking are fine, but anything that involves excessive movement or strain should be postponed for a couple of days.

When cleaning your face during this time, you should take extra care of the area around your nose. The nose and surrounding area should be washed gently with a mild cleanser, avoiding any harsh scrubbing or exfoliation. If you need clarification on which products to avoid and which cleansers may be the most suitable for you, you are welcome to ask our team during your appointment.

It can take a few days for your nose to feel settled after treatment, so it is important to be patient when assessing the results. Initial swelling may make the nose appear slightly different than expected, but this usually subsides within quite a short period of time.

Tips to follow to care for your nose in the longer term

After the initial 48 hours following your non surgical rhinoplasty treatment has passed, there are still some tips you can follow to care for your nose in the long term.

Following a consistent skincare routine will help to keep the skin in good condition. You can also help to maintain your skin’s good condition by staying hydrated and following a healthy, balanced diet.

Sunscreen is always important, but it is particularly necessary after non surgical rhinoplasty, as the skin may be more sensitive in the treated areas. A high SPF sunscreen should be applied daily to protect the skin and maintain results.

While the longevity of your results will depend on factors like how fast your body will naturally metabolise the treatment, caring for your nose in the longer term can help to prolong your results.

Due to the treatment’s temporary nature, you’ll need additional treatments to refresh your results. You can discuss what to expect when it comes to maintaining your results in the long-term during your consultation.
